Move from Lightspeed to Shopify.
Lightspeed eCom is widely used in the Netherlands and Belgium. We move your online store to Shopify and, if you have physical shops, look at bringing them onto Shopify POS so stock and customers live in one place.
What changes when you leave Lightspeed.
Online and in-store together
Shopify POS uses the same products, stock and customers as your online store.
More apps and partners
A large ecosystem of apps, themes and integrations as you grow.
Markets for Europe
Languages, currencies and local payments such as iDEAL | Wero and Bancontact per country.
Your data comes with you.
Shopify's own guidance is to import products first, then customers, then historical orders. We follow it and check the result.
Products
Titles, descriptions, images, variants, prices, stock and SEO fields.
Customers
Names, emails, addresses and marketing consent. Passwords can't be moved, so customers sign in again.
Order history
Past orders, imported after products and customers so they link to the right records.
Content
Blog posts, pages, gift cards and store credit where the old platform exports them.
URLs and SEO
A 301 redirect for every old product, category and page URL, plus titles and meta descriptions.
Integrations
ERP, email, reviews and shipping tools reconnected or replaced.
The parts we plan before moving anything.
Products and variants
Lightspeed variants and attributes become Shopify options and variants, planned before import.
Physical shops
If you use Lightspeed POS, we plan whether and when to move to Shopify POS, including hardware checks.
Languages
Multi-language shops move to Shopify languages, each with its own URLs.
URLs
Every product, category and page URL is redirected to its Shopify address.
Trade-offs to weigh.
Shopify is not the right answer for every store. These are the points we go through with you before recommending the move.
Costs change shape
Hosting, patching and developer upkeep go down. A Shopify plan and some app subscriptions come in. We compare both in your plan.
Payment provider fees
Shopify adds a transaction fee when you use a third-party payment provider instead of Shopify Payments, depending on your plan. We factor that into the payment set-up.
Some features are apps
A few features come from apps, some paid. We keep the list short and pick well-supported ones.
Planned, rehearsed, then switched.
Your old store keeps selling until the moment we switch the domain.
Map everything
Every product type, plugin, integration, URL and legal page on the old store, and what each becomes on Shopify.
Import and check
Products first, then customers, then order history, so records link up. Then a line-by-line check of the data.
Theme and features
Theme, checkout, payments, taxes, shipping and the apps or custom code that replace old plugins.
Redirect and switch
Redirects for every old URL, test orders, domain switch, sitemap submitted, and a watch on traffic after launch.
Lightspeed migration questions.
Will we lose our Google rankings?
Rankings depend on many things, but the biggest avoidable risk is broken URLs. We redirect every old product, category and page URL to its new address before the domain switch, then submit the new sitemap and watch for errors after launch.
Can the old store keep selling during the migration?
Yes. We build and test on Shopify while the old store runs. Orders placed during the build are brought across in a final sync before the switch.
Can customer passwords be moved?
No. Passwords are stored in a form no platform can read or transfer. Customer accounts move over, and customers sign in again on Shopify.
Does Shopify have a Lightspeed guide?
Yes, Shopify's help center links a Lightspeed migration guide. We use it as a baseline.
