Move a custom-built store to Shopify.
Home-grown platforms often depend on one developer or an old agency, and every change gets harder. We extract your data, map the business rules your code enforces, and move you to Shopify without losing them.
What changes when you leave a custom-built store.
No single point of failure
The platform stops depending on one developer or one old codebase.
Security handled
Hosting, payments security and patching handled by Shopify.
Faster changes
Your team edits the store without code changes.
Your data comes with you.
Shopify's own guidance is to import products first, then customers, then historical orders. We follow it and check the result.
Products
Titles, descriptions, images, variants, prices, stock and SEO fields.
Customers
Names, emails, addresses and marketing consent. Passwords can't be moved, so customers sign in again.
Order history
Past orders, imported after products and customers so they link to the right records.
Content
Blog posts, pages, gift cards and store credit where the old platform exports them.
URLs and SEO
A 301 redirect for every old product, category and page URL, plus titles and meta descriptions.
Integrations
ERP, email, reviews and shipping tools reconnected or replaced.
The parts we plan before moving anything.
Data extraction
We extract products, customers and orders directly from the database or exports, and clean them before import.
Hidden business rules
Pricing, shipping, tax and customer rules in the old code are found and written down before they are rebuilt on Shopify.
Integrations
Each connection to ERP, warehouse or marketing tools gets a Shopify equivalent.
URLs
Old URL patterns are mapped and redirected, however unusual they are.
Trade-offs to weigh.
Shopify is not the right answer for every store. These are the points we go through with you before recommending the move.
Very custom logic
Deep custom pricing, catalog or checkout logic has to be rebuilt with Shopify's extension points, and some of it is better redesigned than copied.
Integrations are the big job
ERP, OMS, PIM and marketing integrations are reconnected one by one. On enterprise migrations this is usually the largest part of the project.
Choosing the plan
Larger stores usually need Shopify Plus, Shopify's enterprise plan. We confirm which plan fits your volume and features before you commit.
Planned, rehearsed, then switched.
Your old store keeps selling until the moment we switch the domain.
Map everything
Every product type, plugin, integration, URL and legal page on the old store, and what each becomes on Shopify.
Import and check
Products first, then customers, then order history, so records link up. Then a line-by-line check of the data.
Theme and features
Theme, checkout, payments, taxes, shipping and the apps or custom code that replace old plugins.
Redirect and switch
Redirects for every old URL, test orders, domain switch, sitemap submitted, and a watch on traffic after launch.
a custom-built store migration questions.
Will we lose our Google rankings?
Rankings depend on many things, but the biggest avoidable risk is broken URLs. We redirect every old product, category and page URL to its new address before the domain switch, then submit the new sitemap and watch for errors after launch.
Can the old store keep selling during the migration?
Yes. We build and test on Shopify while the old store runs. Orders placed during the build are brought across in a final sync before the switch.
Can customer passwords be moved?
No. Passwords are stored in a form no platform can read or transfer. Customer accounts move over, and customers sign in again on Shopify.
