Gambio → Shopify

Move from Gambio to Shopify.

Gambio is a German shop system many smaller DACH stores start on. When you want a more modern storefront and checkout, and room to sell across Europe, we move you to Shopify with the German essentials in place.

Why stores move

What changes when you leave Gambio.

Modern checkout

Fast, mobile-friendly checkout with Klarna, PayPal and cards.

Less upkeep

No shop updates, modules or hosting to maintain.

Room to grow

Markets for new countries and apps for new features.

What moves over

Your data comes with you.

Shopify's own guidance is to import products first, then customers, then historical orders. We follow it and check the result.

Products

Titles, descriptions, images, variants, prices, stock and SEO fields.

Customers

Names, emails, addresses and marketing consent. Passwords can't be moved, so customers sign in again.

Order history

Past orders, imported after products and customers so they link to the right records.

Content

Blog posts, pages, gift cards and store credit where the old platform exports them.

URLs and SEO

A 301 redirect for every old product, category and page URL, plus titles and meta descriptions.

Integrations

ERP, email, reviews and shipping tools reconnected or replaced.

Where Gambio migrations need care

The parts we plan before moving anything.

German legal pages

Impressum, terms (AGB), withdrawal policy and privacy policy move across, and checkout wording and unit prices (Grundpreis) are checked against German requirements.

Modules

Each active Gambio module is mapped to a Shopify feature, an app or custom work.

Products and properties

Gambio properties and attributes become Shopify options and variants.

URLs

Every old URL is redirected so rankings carry over.

Be honest about it

Trade-offs to weigh.

Shopify is not the right answer for every store. These are the points we go through with you before recommending the move.

Less low-level control

You can't change Shopify's core code or database. Most needs are met with settings, apps or Shopify's extension points, but very unusual logic may need a different approach.

Costs change shape

Hosting, patching and developer upkeep go down. A Shopify plan and some app subscriptions come in. We compare both in your plan.

Payment provider fees

Shopify adds a transaction fee when you use a third-party payment provider instead of Shopify Payments, depending on your plan. We factor that into the payment set-up.

How a migration runs

Planned, rehearsed, then switched.

Your old store keeps selling until the moment we switch the domain.

01 / AUDIT

Map everything

Every product type, plugin, integration, URL and legal page on the old store, and what each becomes on Shopify.

02 / MOVE

Import and check

Products first, then customers, then order history, so records link up. Then a line-by-line check of the data.

03 / BUILD

Theme and features

Theme, checkout, payments, taxes, shipping and the apps or custom code that replace old plugins.

04 / LAUNCH

Redirect and switch

Redirects for every old URL, test orders, domain switch, sitemap submitted, and a watch on traffic after launch.

FAQ

Gambio migration questions.

Will we lose our Google rankings?

Rankings depend on many things, but the biggest avoidable risk is broken URLs. We redirect every old product, category and page URL to its new address before the domain switch, then submit the new sitemap and watch for errors after launch.

Can the old store keep selling during the migration?

Yes. We build and test on Shopify while the old store runs. Orders placed during the build are brought across in a final sync before the switch.

Can customer passwords be moved?

No. Passwords are stored in a form no platform can read or transfer. Customer accounts move over, and customers sign in again on Shopify.
