Shopify in Germany, Austria & Switzerland

Shopify for Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

German-speaking shoppers expect complete legal pages, clear prices and familiar ways to pay. We move your store to Shopify with all of it in place, from Shopware, Magento, WooCommerce and others.

What to plan for

What's specific to Germany, Austria & Switzerland.

Legal pages

Impressum (legal notice), terms (AGB), withdrawal policy with the model withdrawal form, and privacy policy (Datenschutzerklärung), linked from every page and from checkout.

Checkout wording and prices

German law expects the order button to make clear the order is binding and paid. We check the checkout text, and set up unit prices (Grundpreis) where products are sold by weight or volume.

Switzerland is outside the EU

Swiss customers pay in CHF and Swiss VAT and customs rules apply separately from EU VAT and OSS. We set up a Swiss market with its own prices and duties approach.

Formal or informal German

Translations and emails follow one consistent tone, formal Sie or informal du, matched to your brand.

Local payments

Payment methods to consider.

Supported by Shopify Payments for customers in these countries, subject to your store's country, currency and eligibility.

How a migration runs

Planned, rehearsed, then switched.

Your old store keeps selling until the moment we switch the domain.

01 / AUDIT

Map everything

Every product type, plugin, integration, URL and legal page on the old store, and what each becomes on Shopify.

02 / MOVE

Import and check

Products first, then customers, then order history, so records link up. Then a line-by-line check of the data.

03 / BUILD

Theme and features

Theme, checkout, payments, taxes, shipping and the apps or custom code that replace old plugins.

04 / LAUNCH

Redirect and switch

Redirects for every old URL, test orders, domain switch, sitemap submitted, and a watch on traffic after launch.

FAQ

Questions about Germany, Austria & Switzerland.

Do you write our legal texts?

No. Legal texts should come from a lawyer or a legal text service. We put them in the right places on Shopify and make sure checkout and emails link to them.

Can we keep PayPal?

Yes. PayPal connects to Shopify separately from Shopify Payments and is set up as part of the migration.

We sell from Germany to Austria and Switzerland. One store?

Usually yes: one store with markets for each country, EUR for Germany and Austria, CHF for Switzerland, and the right tax settings for each.
