Move from OpenCart to Shopify.
OpenCart is open source and self-hosted, which means servers, PHP versions and extension updates are yours to manage. We move your store to Shopify so you can stop maintaining software and focus on selling.
What changes when you leave OpenCart.
No servers to manage
Hosting, security patches and uptime are handled by Shopify.
Fewer extension conflicts
Reviewed apps instead of extensions that break on updates.
A modern checkout
Fast, mobile-friendly checkout with local payment methods.
Your data comes with you.
Shopify's own guidance is to import products first, then customers, then historical orders. We follow it and check the result.
Products
Titles, descriptions, images, variants, prices, stock and SEO fields.
Customers
Names, emails, addresses and marketing consent. Passwords can't be moved, so customers sign in again.
Order history
Past orders, imported after products and customers so they link to the right records.
Content
Blog posts, pages, gift cards and store credit where the old platform exports them.
URLs and SEO
A 301 redirect for every old product, category and page URL, plus titles and meta descriptions.
Integrations
ERP, email, reviews and shipping tools reconnected or replaced.
The parts we plan before moving anything.
Extensions
Each active extension is mapped to a Shopify feature, an app or custom work.
Options
OpenCart product options become Shopify variants, or app-based options where they don't affect stock.
Multi-store and languages
OpenCart stores and languages map to Shopify Markets or separate stores.
SEO URLs
OpenCart SEO URLs and route-based URLs are redirected to their Shopify addresses.
Trade-offs to weigh.
Shopify is not the right answer for every store. These are the points we go through with you before recommending the move.
Less low-level control
You can't change Shopify's core code or database. Most needs are met with settings, apps or Shopify's extension points, but very unusual logic may need a different approach.
Costs change shape
Hosting, patching and developer upkeep go down. A Shopify plan and some app subscriptions come in. We compare both in your plan.
Payment provider fees
Shopify adds a transaction fee when you use a third-party payment provider instead of Shopify Payments, depending on your plan. We factor that into the payment set-up.
Planned, rehearsed, then switched.
Your old store keeps selling until the moment we switch the domain.
Map everything
Every product type, plugin, integration, URL and legal page on the old store, and what each becomes on Shopify.
Import and check
Products first, then customers, then order history, so records link up. Then a line-by-line check of the data.
Theme and features
Theme, checkout, payments, taxes, shipping and the apps or custom code that replace old plugins.
Redirect and switch
Redirects for every old URL, test orders, domain switch, sitemap submitted, and a watch on traffic after launch.
OpenCart migration questions.
Will we lose our Google rankings?
Rankings depend on many things, but the biggest avoidable risk is broken URLs. We redirect every old product, category and page URL to its new address before the domain switch, then submit the new sitemap and watch for errors after launch.
Can the old store keep selling during the migration?
Yes. We build and test on Shopify while the old store runs. Orders placed during the build are brought across in a final sync before the switch.
Can customer passwords be moved?
No. Passwords are stored in a form no platform can read or transfer. Customer accounts move over, and customers sign in again on Shopify.
