Outgrown Squarespace?
Squarespace is great for a beautiful site with a shop on the side. When the shop becomes the business, Shopify gives you the selling tools. We move your products, customers and content, and keep your look.
What changes when you leave Squarespace.
Commerce first
Inventory, variants, shipping profiles, discounts and checkout are the core of Shopify.
Selling abroad
Markets for languages, currencies and country domains when you expand.
A big app ecosystem
Reviews, subscriptions, bundles, ERP and marketplace connections when you need them.
Your data comes with you.
Shopify's own guidance is to import products first, then customers, then historical orders. We follow it and check the result.
Products
Titles, descriptions, images, variants, prices, stock and SEO fields.
Customers
Names, emails, addresses and marketing consent. Passwords can't be moved, so customers sign in again.
Order history
Past orders, imported after products and customers so they link to the right records.
Content
Blog posts, pages, gift cards and store credit where the old platform exports them.
URLs and SEO
A 301 redirect for every old product, category and page URL, plus titles and meta descriptions.
Integrations
ERP, email, reviews and shipping tools reconnected or replaced.
The parts we plan before moving anything.
What the export includes
We check exactly which products, customers and content your Squarespace site can export before planning.
Blog and pages
Blog posts and pages move to Shopify, with redirects from the old URLs.
Design
Your Squarespace design is rebuilt as a Shopify theme so the brand stays the same.
Member areas and scheduling
Features outside commerce need a Shopify app or a separate tool. We decide during the audit.
Trade-offs to weigh.
Shopify is not the right answer for every store. These are the points we go through with you before recommending the move.
More to set up
Shopify gives you more control over shipping, taxes and checkout, which also means more settings to get right at the start. That is part of our job.
Some features are apps
A few features come from apps, some paid. We keep the list short and pick well-supported ones.
Design is rebuilt
Your design doesn't transfer automatically. It is rebuilt as a Shopify theme, which is a chance to make it faster.
Planned, rehearsed, then switched.
Your old store keeps selling until the moment we switch the domain.
Map everything
Every product type, plugin, integration, URL and legal page on the old store, and what each becomes on Shopify.
Import and check
Products first, then customers, then order history, so records link up. Then a line-by-line check of the data.
Theme and features
Theme, checkout, payments, taxes, shipping and the apps or custom code that replace old plugins.
Redirect and switch
Redirects for every old URL, test orders, domain switch, sitemap submitted, and a watch on traffic after launch.
Squarespace migration questions.
Will we lose our Google rankings?
Rankings depend on many things, but the biggest avoidable risk is broken URLs. We redirect every old product, category and page URL to its new address before the domain switch, then submit the new sitemap and watch for errors after launch.
Can the old store keep selling during the migration?
Yes. We build and test on Shopify while the old store runs. Orders placed during the build are brought across in a final sync before the switch.
Can customer passwords be moved?
No. Passwords are stored in a form no platform can read or transfer. Customer accounts move over, and customers sign in again on Shopify.
Does Shopify have a Squarespace guide?
Yes, Shopify's help center links a Squarespace migration guide. We use it as a baseline and add the checks a live store needs.
