What's specific to the UK & Ireland.
UK VAT
For goods sent to UK customers from outside the UK in consignments up to £135, the seller charges UK VAT at checkout. UK-based stores charge UK VAT as normal. Shopify's tax settings are set to match your registration.
Ireland and EU OSS
Irish stores sell into the EU under EU VAT rules and can use the One-Stop Shop. Shopify also supports OSS for merchants with Northern Ireland locations.
Duties between the UK and EU
Cross-border orders can carry customs duties. We decide with you whether customers pay them at checkout or on delivery, and set up Shopify to match.

Should UK and EU customers be separate stores?
Usually one store with UK and EU markets is enough. Separate stores make sense if you ship from separate warehouses with different ranges.
Do you handle customs paperwork?
No. We set up Shopify, product data such as HS codes and countries of origin, and your shipping app so customs details are complete. Filing stays with you or your carrier.
